Thanks for the replies and settings etc. All to no avail sadly. The K3 will work on CW but stubbornly refuses to TX on DATA A either RTTY or PSK31.
This was a factory built unit and if I was located near Aptos it would be on it's way back to be checked out fully, sadly I live a little ways beyond California. Oh well, who wants to play with a computer when you can find a human to converse with...so no more data stuff for me, life is way too short to waste time playing with 4 data programs that simply don't work with this particular K3. Regards, Gary I just got lost in thought............. Hello Gary,
I had problems wetting up at first also. Here are my settings, In mixw I have the cat set to Kenwood...model to elecraft k2...... my com port is set to #1 and baud rate is "38400" same as rig. Have ptt "via cat command" checked afsk in place of fsk checked. In the sound card "device is computer soundcard." Then in input I have "mic" (soundcard name) "output speakers" (soundcard name) I have the sample rate at 1200 becuase I am using winkey...usually its at 11025.. If I remember right. also have "full duplex" checked. On the rig I have data mode "afsk a " "rts-dtr" is set in the menu. and "mic sel" is Line in... Hope this helps.. Don...w2xb

You Should give Glenn a call at US Interface, as he was the best MixW distributer around. He has helped me get my K3 set up with MixW and his interface as well as the RigExpert interface. Just go to his website and get his number. He is a great guy.
