K3 and TigerTronics SignaLink USB Device

Jack
I have a K3 on order with a KUSB cable for $39.95.  The SignaLink USB device
is only $99 and includes a usb connection as well as an external sound card
and all the controls needed for digital modes.  It looks good to me.

I am interested in RTTY and PSK.

Should I drop the KUSB cable from my Elecraft order and get the SignaLink?

BTW, I have read the QST 2008 review!

Thanks

Jack, AE6GC

The SignaLink device does not contain a serial port, so it won't
substitute for the KUSB.

The SignaLink does contain a "soundcard" that makes it easy to dedicate
to the K3 for digital mode operation.  OTOH, if your PC already has a
soundcard, you can just use a pair of 3.5MM (1/8"_ stereo patch cables
between the PC and the LINE IN and OUT jacks on the back fo the K3 and
not need the SignaLink or any other soundcard interface dive (e.g.,
RigBlaster).

I have used the SignaLink USB with various radios here in the shack and
it works very well for what it is intended to do.
