When I have the K3 turned on when I start up my laptop and it happens to be in SSB mode the com port I use for the utility apparently causes the PTT to send about 5 longs T's over the air. If I am in CW no problem because I have told the rig to come up with VOX off.
Is there a setting that will prevent this unattended transmission while in SSB mode? John,
The com port is most likely activating either DTR or RTS during its power up testing. To prevent the K3 from responding, go to the CONFIG menu and set the parameter for PTT--KEY to Off Off. 73, Don W3FPR On 9/16/2011 10:28 AM, John Watkins wrote: > When I have the K3 turned on when I start up my laptop and it happens to be in SSB mode the com port I use for the utility apparently causes the PTT to send about 5 longs T's over the air. I'm going to guess that you have config PTT-KEY set to something other than OFF-OFF and your device driver for the USB to serial adapter or RS232 port wiggles the RTS or DTR pins during initialization
