K3 appears to be in AM even though mode says DATA

Tom Azlin W7SUA-2
Hi.

My K3 seems to switch to AM around 5 MHz even though the display says
DATA. And the filter highlight on my P3 also switches to the AM width
around tuned freq.

Earlier I had tuned to 5 MHz WWV to do a sound card calibration and
switched mode to AM. Now was trying to test my fldigi FMT Modem against
5 MHz WWV so switched to DATA. Still shows as if I am in AM mode.

Anyone have an idea what is happening?

Tom,

You likely have the 6 (or 13) kHz filter enabled for both DATA and AM
modes.  Use K3 Utility Filter Calibration to change it.

Thanks Don.

I had changed nothing in the radio. Had been working just fine up to
this afternoon! Not just the filter, the radio is in AM mode even though
the mode says DATA.

Will go look at the filter set up!

Tom

Hi Tom,

What happens if you disable CAT control from the PC and just try the K3
without potential outside influence?

Hi Mike.

Well, it was still looking like in AM mode so I reached out to Elecraft
Support. They have suggested a test to run and send the results back to
them. Now I can not reproduce the error.

Hi Mike.

No joy. Seemed to still be in AM mode with DATA displayed. So I reached
out to Elecraft Support with result of a test to run and send them the
results. But now I can not reproduce the error.
