K3 as an antenna analyzer?

Dave, G4AON
I have an LP100 that does that and an MFJ 259B... I think Wayne, Eric
and Co have enough on their plate getting the basics working fully
without being side tracked into "nice to have" extras that one or two
users may use once or twice...

K3/100 #80

/I have an idea for a new feature, for Eric, Wayne and the others to think
about. Now that the K3 can read and display the LC settings for the
internal autotuner, wouldn't it be neat to be able to calculate the
corresponding antenna impedance at the given frequency (Z = R +jX)?/

Re: K3 as an antenna analyzer?

Kristinn:

That feature IS ALREADY AVAILABLE in the K3...!!!  Though not quite as easy
to access as one might want for 'daily' access, ALL of the KAT3 tuning values
CAN be viewed in the LCD display: (the last two sentences are the really
important ones here)

KAT3 ATU mode; normally set to BYP or AUTO (you can alternate
between these settings using the [ATU] switch). Modes L1-L8, C1-C8,
and Ct are used to test KAT3 relays. Mode LCSET allows manual
adjustment of L/C/net settings. When in this mode, tapping [ATU
TUNE] shows the L & C value; C is changed with VFO A, L is changed
with VFO B, and [ANT] toggles between Ca and Ct .
