K3 cases with additional protection

BlankSome months ago Ed Muns requested that I make him
two custom K3 carry cases that would fasten together
to make one carry-on luggage package - and- provide
additional protection for the front and rear panels of the
radio.  

In addition to the modifications to my "stock" case
I added additional padding to all sides, top and bottom
of the cases.  This additional padding and a stronger
Velcro closure on the internal protective flaps, pocket
cover flaps and case cover are now "standard" on -all-
of my cases.

As Ed has already stated, he created the padded end
"caps" for the radio and had several sets made.  He then
sent me a set to use in making his custom cases.  The
end caps are placed on the radio -before- it is placed in
the case and there are no additional fasteners needed.

Basically the "custom" design amounts to making the
cases two inches wider to accomodate the end caps.
There is -not- room in a "standard" case to use the end
caps and modifying a "standard" case to accomodate these
end caps is not an option.  It would essentially require,
making a new case.

I eventually made several of these custom cases for use
by Elecraft folks to transport the demo K3's to and from
hamfests.

I have spoken with Ed about obtaining additional end caps
and if there is enough interest, he can probably provide them,
either to me or directly. The design and fabrication of the end
caps are entirely his.

Should you wish to order one of the wider cases, the cost
will be an additional $15 beyond the regular cost, but this
does -not- include Ed's end caps.  The exterior and interior
pockets would be two inches wider, but there is no change
in the dimensions or cost of the optional end pockets.
