K3: constant carrier with mic key down?

Dear Elecrafters,

 

What do I need to set on the K3 to get a constant carrier CW signal when I
press the PTT button?  This would be primarily used for amplifier tuning
into a dummy load.

Ahh... perfect Don!  I forgot about the TUNE button.  However, just out of
curiosity now, is there a way to get a constant carrier out by using the PTT
button?

Jim,

On the K3, not with PTT alone.  But in conjunction with a key closure it
can work - in CW (with VOX on) just close the KEY input, and for SSB if
you have CW in SSB, again close the KEY input and you will get a carrier
(at full power - which may or may not be what you want).
Using TUNE the TUNE power can be set in the menu.
