K3 firmware 2.45 no AM compression

I guess it's an error in the coding, but there is no longer compression
available on AM in version 2.45 firmware. No mention in the release notes.

Can we have it fixed folks?

Hi Dave,

The AM compression provided in earlier versions was actually an audio
clipper. Recent tests in our lab and by another dedicated K3 AM user
showed that it was adding distortion but not "punch." The new code uses
the MIC AGC system to limit the peak level, and allows more AM
modulation. We'll be revisiting AM compression in the future.

The IF clipper approach used in SSB is not appropriate for AM.

I'll add this to the release notes. Sorry for the omission.
