I have a K3 with three filters, 2.7 KHz (FL1) , 400 Hz(FL2) and 200 Hz ( FL3) . When I reduce the bandwidth from 4.0 KHz, the radio performs as expected EXCEPT when the the different filter switches in. When I reduce the bandwidth and it switches from FL1 to FL2, the receiver gain goes up at least 12 dB. Whe I further reduce the bandwidth and the radio switches frm FL2 to FL3, the gain reduces to that of FL1. Filter gains are set at 0 dB, 1 dB and 3 dB for FL1 thru FL3. This happens in USB as well as CW. When I use FL2, I need to turn down the RF gain. What's happning?

Look in the manual on page 46 - "Filter Loss Compensation".
Following the procedure there should get them equalized for you. 73, Tim - N3XX ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard Haendel" <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]> Sent: Saturday, May 22, 2010 4:28 PM Subject: [Elecraft] K3 gain changes with filter selection >I have a K3 with three filters, 2.7 KHz (FL1) , 400 Hz(FL2) and 200 Hz ( >FL3) . Sorry, I just read your message more closely, and it looks like you have
already been through those settings. I'm not sure what else might be the problem. Maybe someone else has an idea. 73, Tim - N3XX ----- Original Message ----- From: "N3XX" <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]> Sent: Saturday, May 22, 2010 5:59 PM Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K3 gain changes with filter selection > Look in the manual on page 46 - "Filter Loss Compensation". > Following the procedure there should get them equalized for you. > > 73, > Tim - N3XX > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Richard Haendel" <[hidden email]> > To: <[hidden email]> > Sent: Saturday, May 22, 2010 4:28 PM > Subject: [Elecraft] K3 gain changes with filter selection > > >>I have a K3 with three filters, 2.7 KHz (FL1) , 400 Hz(FL2) and 200 Hz ( >>FL3) . Are the filter offsets correct?

Have you re-run the RF-Gain calibration recently? Perhaps rerun it?
Maybe the battery died in your signal generator in the middle of the last time you ran the cal? ;) ~Brett (N7MG) (Previously KC7OTG) On Sat, May 22, 2010 at 1:28 PM, Richard Haendel <[hidden email]> wrote: > I have a K3 with three filters, 2.7 KHz (FL1) , 400 Hz(FL2) and 200 Hz ( FL3) .
