OK...I admit it. I have used computer logging since day one, but I
have never set up the rig to talk with the computer. I need help!! I am using CT 10 (DOS version). I presume that I need to use the connector labeled RS232 on the K3 (yes/no)? What baud rate is it? On the computer... I have an old machine running DOS (CT10). It is a pentium 1. I see two connectors on the back of the computer that are DB9s...same as the K3. They both have the same "symbol" above the connector, so I am guessing that they are each the same. Is that what I connect to? Which one? In the program CT, it asks me which COM port to put Radio 1 on. How do I tell? CT also wants me to set the baud rate. Again, how do I know what baud rate to use? What else do I need to know? Please reply directly to me at this email address. We are trying to use a second external receicver wth the K3 by connecting
the RX ant out jack to the second receiver antenna input. But we are hearing no signals. It appears to be necessary to swith the rx antenna in and out jacks into the circut to make it work. We have switched the KXV3 to the "nor" position via the configuration menu. "The manual says to switch it to on" but that choice is not available. So it seems the KXV3 is on but there is no output, is there something else we need to do? We need n answer next few hours, appreciate any help. Gee, I wonder why. Is there some event starting at 0000Z ? :) I'm assuming you want to share your main antenna between the K3's main receiver and your external one (and have both use it simultaneously). I don't think you can do that through the KXV3 - see page 38 of the owner's manual. The "out" is intended for inserting an external filter or preamp. I've been wondering if there would be a way to (internally) patch into the same place that the KRX3 gets its feed from, and drop that out at AUX RF for connection to an external receiver, but haven't pursued it. Good luck in the contest... ~Iain _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Subscriber Info (Addr. If you are trying to share the receive path so that the K3 receiver and the external receiver are active simultaneously, you need a splitter. The input to the splitter comes from the KXV3 Rx OUT connector. One splitter output goes to the KXV3 Rx In and the other output goes tot he external receiver. 73, Lyle KK7P _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. An external ferrite splitter works great, diagram at:
http://www.astromag.co.uk/k3/ I mostly use a Perseus SDR receiver which can be linked to the same frequency as the K3 via Ham Radio Deluxe. I also used to use a K2 as a second receiver prior to the arrival of the Perseus. 73 Dave, G4AON _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Thanks to all for the input we didn't know we had to turn on the rx antenna
on the front panel.
