HI,
One of the features that helped sell me on the K3 was the ability to have two sets of headphones connected without external splitters, and have the speaker 'on' as well. My club does three Special Events each year plus Field Day and it is helpful to use headphones for the operator and logger. But, many complain that with most radios, when you plug in the headphones, the speaker is disabled and the onlookers can't hear what is going on. The K3 puts and end to that, everyone can now hear. But, with good headphones, now the operator and logger can't hear each other. How nice it would be in there was some way that the mic's could be active during 'non' key periods so that the logger and operator could talk to each other to verify calls, exchange etc. and still hear what's on the radio. Is there any chance this might be added to the K3 feature list? ...bill NR4C ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Avionics audio has the same problem to cope with: Intercom during
non-keyed periods, to headsets - maybe as many as four or six. There are little $100 to $200 protable intercom boxes that can be rigged for this. I have one, although I don't know if it would work with dynamic mics or not. If i remember correctly, aviation mics are carbon. I am pretty sure that the sockets are the old 1/4" telco patch type, so might need to be replaced. Sigtronics is one vendor, there are several others that are well-known. 73, matt W6NIA On Mon, 16 May 2011 10:25:29 -0400, you wrote: >HI, > >One of the features that helped sell me on the K3 was the ability to >have two sets of headphones connected without external splitters, and >have the speaker 'on' as well.
