giuliano-8
I have orderd yesterday a K3 Kit version, I hope is sheepped before four
mounth  actually scheduled !
I have a question regarding the microphone that I can use. I have an ICOM
HM-36, from photo the connector appear the same. It is usable? If not I have

The connector may be the same but Icom wires their mic plugs differently. Still, I can't imagine that being much of a challenge to someone who modified a K1 for SSB. :)

Giuliano,

The ICOM HM-36 uses an 8 pin connector, just like the K3 - BUT the mic
plug wiring is different, so you cannot simply plug it into the K3.

If you wish to dedicate that microphone to the K3, then it is an easy
matter to re-wire the mic plug, but it will no longer work with Icom
transceivers.

One can rewire the mic plug of an HM-36 to work with the K3 as
far as the mic and PTT.  However, unless the cable has a spare
wire it will not be possible to make the up/down buttons work.
Icom uses a single connection for both up and down.  "Up" grounds
the function lead directly while "Down" connects the function lead
to ground through 100 Ohms.
