K3 - mono speaker plug

k6dgw
I need to connect a mono external speaker to the stereo SPKR jack on the
back panel.  Cady's book lists a Radio Shack part to do this, however it
produces two mono outputs [R & L] from the stereo jack, and is a little
to large physically for my installation.

Can I use a smaller 1-circuit stereo-->mono adapter that ties right and
left channels together with CONFIG: SPKRS 1 set?  I understand the part
about not plugging a mono plug into the jack, just not sure if
connecting R and L together is OK.

Fred,

Shoring the Left and Right channels of the speaker output together is
not a good thing to do.

Use a stereo plug and just wire the external speaker to tip and shell
and leave the ring open.

OK, thanks!  I'll replace the mono plug on the end of the speaker cable
with a stereo wired that way.
