I need to connect a mono external speaker to the stereo SPKR jack on the
back panel. Cady's book lists a Radio Shack part to do this, however it produces two mono outputs [R & L] from the stereo jack, and is a little to large physically for my installation. Can I use a smaller 1-circuit stereo-->mono adapter that ties right and left channels together with CONFIG: SPKRS 1 set? I understand the part about not plugging a mono plug into the jack, just not sure if connecting R and L together is OK. 73, Fred K6DGW - Northern California Contest Club - CU in the 2013 Cal QSO Party 5-6 Oct 2013 - www.cqp.org ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Fred,
Shoring the Left and Right channels of the speaker output together is not a good thing to do. Use a stereo plug and just wire the external speaker to tip and shell and leave the ring open. 73, Lyle KK7P > I need to connect a mono external speaker to the stereo SPKR jack on > the back panel. OK, thanks! I'll replace the mono plug on the end of the speaker cable
with a stereo wired that way. 73, Fred K6DGW - Northern California Contest Club - CU in the 2013 Cal QSO Party 5-6 Oct 2013 - www.cqp.org On 3/12/2013 11:42 AM, Lyle Johnson wrote: > Shoring the Left and Right channels of the speaker output together is > not a good thing to do. > > Use a stereo plug and just wire the external speaker to tip and shell > and leave the ring open. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
