K3 need to shift passband on 2.1 filter?

kcflyers
I have a K3, s/n 43xx, with 2.8 and 2.1 filters in both main and sub receivers.  When using the 2.8 filter, passband display is centered (cursor in center), and audio sounds fine.  When using 2.1 filter, display is also centered, but audio sounds excessively "tinny".  Shifting passband (Moving cursor towards right side of passband display), audio then sounds normal.  Is this normal?  My filters are the 8 pole type.  I would think I should be able to switch between 2.8 and 2.1 without having to manually shift passband.  Per manual there is no freq offset for 8 pole filters, so I assume that's how I have them set up.
