K3 - no stereo, no AFX

Ron Chambers
Just completed the K3 #594.
After going thru the reflector archives and reading the many HooYah's
about AFX and Stereo reception I must have one hiccup:

I have tried different headphones - one plugged via 1/4" jack on front
and then the other via the 1/8" plug on the back (both stereo plugs).
Even rotated the headphones on my head to make sure I hadn't gone deaf
in one ear! But all I get is 95% of the radio's output in ONE ear
only. The other ear has audio but is barely audible. I have played
with the AFX settings, the SPKR  1, 2, + HP settings, etc and can't
make any difference.

User operator error? HELP!

Make sure you have CONFIG: SPKR+PH = NO  (or CONFIG:SPKRS = 2 to
ensure K3 'knows' you've got stereo output devices)

Enable AFK (tap the [AFX] button on bottom right of keypad) to turn ON
(VFO B display says on, if it was on, display shows OFF, tap again).

tap [MENU] and turn VFO B knob until VFO B display shows 'AFX MD',
turn VFO A knob to change delay - I find any setting below 3 to just
be in my left ear, 4 to 6 being most noticeable as an effect.
