Hi all,
We're hoping that the latest K3 beta firmware, revision 3.11 (DSP 2.15) will go to "production" firmware status next week. While 3.11 doesn't have everything that everyone has asked for, it's a huge step forward from the previous production revision (2.78). To ensure that 3.11 meets our standard for a production release, I'd like to encourage more K3 owners to install it. Any operating time you can put on it this weekend would be especially helpful. As usual, if you have any difficulty with the installation process or the firmware itself, please email k3support. For instructions on how to load beta firmware, please see: http://www.elecraft.com/K3/k3_software.htm We recommend that you use the latest revision of K3 Utility, which can also be found on the K3 software page. --- http://www.elecraft.com ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Maybe I have missed something the last days, if so please don't mind.
Prior to 3.11 I had VOX in CW on all the time. When I changed mode to SSB, VOX turn off. Now when I change between CW and SSB VOX stays on all the time. When I turn VOX off in SSB it is also off in CW. So VOX is not independent for SSB and CW anymore. I can't say if it was so in 3.10 already, missed it. Is this a bug or can it be turned on again in the config menu somehow? 73 de Roland, DC1RS

Roland, I've tried VOX on and off on both CW and SSB. I also tried the
same with and without "auto VOX off" in the menu (CW WGHT in config, press 4 to toggle on/off). I cannot reproduce the problem you describe... My VOX appears to be independent between CW and SSB/AM/DATA (which are all lumped together with regard to VOX). 73 Dave, G4AON K3/100 #80, f/w 3.11 ------------------------------------------------------ Prior to 3.11 I had VOX in CW on all the time. Hello Dave, thank you for answering.
Now I found out what I did wrong. I was in spilt operation while changing modes. When I change the modes without split, everything works as it should. But as long as I'm in split operation VOX stays on, regardless of the mode. So the error was 30cm in front of the radio ![]() 73 de Roland, DC1RS

Install went well.
No issues noted operating CW, SSB or RTTY with it in five different contests. Trying to figure out the best settings to pull the weak RTTY signals out. Also, trying to figure out how to keep my VOX/QSK for CW working with PTT enabled for RTTY via N1MM, other than switching or pulling out the cable. RTTY PTT is enabled from Port 2 and CW is run via Port 1 (PTT is OFF, CW selected and Always off for RTS, same for the K3 settings) 73, Julius

Hi guys, This weekend as we started Helvetia Contest my friends K3 #293 had a strange problem.. Worked so far with all firmware. Draws a little over 3 Amps with 12w Output at full output FM on any band. During "Tune" is seems to tune with 5 watts which i have in my Config During "SEND" when i go from Low Power to High power above the 12 Watts.. Current increases to 8 Amps but no output more then about 12 Watts IN SSB ALC Meter gives the right ALC but no output is shown Monitor is OK as i hear myself As i do an ATU tune the upper display usually reads swr but now only gives 2 dashes -- ATU is working , relays are clicking and no fault is given by the firmware. Sometimes it give an error ERR TXG Receive is OK Is has all options built in and the latest modifications done... KRX KAT 100W DVR What could be wrong here?? All input is welcome... 73 de Tom HB9DOD KL5X K3 #29 -- 73 Tom mailto:[hidden email] ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Tom,
The ERR TXG message is important - you need to re-run the Transmit Gain Calibration. It is easy if you use K3 Utility to do the calibration, but you can do it manually through the menu too - just switch through all bands and calibrate on each one. That may solve your other power problems. If not, an email to [hidden email] is in order. 73, Don W3FPR Tom (HB9DOD) wrote: > Hi guys, > > > This weekend as we started Helvetia Contest my friends K3 #293 had a strange problem.. > > Worked so far with all firmware. > > Draws a little over 3 Amps with 12w Output at full output FM on any band. > During "Tune" is seems to tune with 5 watts which i have in my Config > > During "SEND" when i go from Low Power to High power above the 12 Watts.. Thank you guys for all the maddening hard work. Hope we didn't drive you too crazy. It is most exiting to see the K3 evolve, that makes Elecraft very unique in the hamworld (and in electronics in general) Great to be on board. 73' Paul PD0PSB |
