K3 phase noise & BDR - how related?

Okay you techie gurus...please teach me ....

How does the composite TRANSMITTED phase noise impact the RECEIVE BDR specs?

I admit that over the decades I've frequently noted that the ARRL
review cite that the rx spec is "phase noise limited" but I never
thought that they meant XMIT phase noise.

Help me learn!

Doug,

Transmit phase noise is the composite of both the local oscillator phase
noise (which also impacts RX) and any additional transmit noise
generated in the TX chain. In most rigs it should be very close to RX
phase noise.  It also gives you a feel for the broadband noise level of
any transmitter.

All of the ARRL phase noise plots you have seen in reviews are TX
composite phase noise.
