K3 - plus symbol lower right corner of display

Can someone remind me what the + in the lower right corner means?  Been
poking through the manual, but ran out of time.

Working with a remote station, and found it in a strange configuration.
Got everything fixed except for that +

According to the owner's manual, "+ icon on in SSB modes indicates ESSB".
