K3- problem with no text on psk31, 30 meters

nf8j
My local friend put up a new 30 meter dipole and we had made contact on 20 meters psk, no problem. When I changed the K3 to 30 meters and called him, he said I had only sent a carrier, he could hear the psk signal, but NO TEXT.. I noticed on the the display a "T" in the lower right corner of the display. The manual says on page 12, T indicates FM /tone, or CW/data text decode.. I have never seen this when operating on 20 meter psk.. but changing bands it does appear on every band when the mode is set to Data. On 20 meters is does not appear... I have made over 700 qsos on 20 psk since May.. what am I doing wrong..???? I am using HRD and DM780 for psk software...

There are four submodes of the DATA mode.  If the T is present, it
indicates one of the text decode modes is active (AFSK A, FSK D or PSK
D).  If the mode is DATA A, then the T is no longer present.

When in DATA mode, hold the DATA MD button to display the DATA submode
and rotate the VFO B knob to select the desired one.

If you are operating PSK31 using HRD, then you want to be in DATA A
mode.  The PSK D submode is for use with the K3's internal PSK decoder
and use of a CW paddle for sending PSK.
