K3-psk31 hook ups?

Chris W7CTH
I just  starting to learn the digital side of ham radio. I have the line in and
line out going from the K3 to line in and out to the soundcard of the windows XP
computer.
Using the VOX  in the radio to PTT.
Is there a interface that I should be using between the computer and K3 or is
this the way it should be done.

The digital side is like the dark side for me. I just like to talk.

Thanks
Chris W7CTH

Assume you have them crossed (OUT of on, INto the other)

That should basically work fine. You might consider an interface to do
PTT explicitly, rather than VOX, but if VOX is working for you....

If you only have one sound card in the computer, you probably want to
turn of system-generated sounds, so you won't be transmitting those
bloops and dings on the air (either mixed in with your digital data or
by themselves w/ VOX!).

Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Sounds -> Sound scheme -> No Sounds

A second sound card (or USB audio device), dedicated to digital modes,
could be a good investment.

Thanks ! I just did No Sound. I just use this computer just for Ham Radio. I
don't even have speakers on it.
Chris
