I had just noticed those lines but didn't think they were necessarily the
transmit freq as I was in CW and the line wasn't at 600 as I would have expected. Figured it was new for something but did not further research them at the time. I had my width wide to see the pileup and with it in the middle, no help. I am new at split. Can I run split using my second receiver for the transmit freq?? Then narrow the receive width on the transmit frequency vfo so the line would be where it belongs??? VFO A is the green line and VFO B is the cyan line, If you are on SSB it also shows the pass band as either upper or lower sideband by which side of the marker it is on. CW will be centered in the pass band. 73s JIm, W4ATK On 4/18/2014 6:15 AM, Jim Miller wrote: > I want my signal to show me on my P3 where I am transmitting split. > 73, Jim KG0KP > > > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email > list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to > [hidden email] > ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to [hidden email] |

Hi Jim,
We see a lot of similar questions on the reflector. Self experimentation is probably the best method for you to fully understand the use of the P3 with respect to VFO B and split operation. Just remember the three cursor colors. VFO-A is green. VFO-B is magenta. When you are transmitting on a frequency other than VFO-A a red cursor appears. It will show up when you are in split (SPLT) or if XIT is turned on. There are additional identifiers on the K3 screen. the TX arrow points to "B". The delta f LED under the power button is illuminated. Sometimes the red and magenta cursors overlap and you only see red. If you change the bandwidth of the SUB RX the cursors will vary in width and you'll see both. If the span of the P3 is quite wide the cursors are very narrow and you might not see these finer distinctions. If your span is narrow the red and magenta cursors might be off the P3 screen as denoted by a small arrow on the right or left side of the screen. Experiment and have fun. 73, Mike K2MK

Hi Jim,
In answer to your question: > > I am new at split. Can I run split using my second receiver for the > transmit freq?? Then narrow the receive width on the transmit > frequency vfo so the line would be where it belongs??? > > Thanks, 73, Jim KG0KP > Yes. When you are in Split, the VFO B (aka second receiver) is your transmit frequency. I'd suggest not cranking the width down on the sub receiver because you would like to be wide enough to find where the current lucky operator is transmitting. A wide filter width for that will make it easier (and a P3 makes it like shooting fish in a barrel). You can set the sub rx width independently from the main rx width two ways. One was is to set a wide width on the main and then double tap A>B to transfer the vfo freq and filter characteristics to vfo b. The other way is to hold BSET and then adjust the width for B and then tap BSET when you are done. I use a macro based on ZL2IFB's suggestions:
RT0;XT0;FR0;DV0;BW0040;SWT13;SWT13;UP4;SB1;BW0100;MN111;MP002;MN255; It is assigned to PF1 (RIT button), you can do the job with K3 utils. It copies the actual frequency to VFO B, moves the VFO 1 UP, sets on the corresponding filters. Now you listen the DX on your KRX3 while the main RX/TX is on the calling frequency. You can use QSK/QRQ while operating split. I operate almost exclusively CW. For SSB you should modify the filter bandwidth and the UP shift (up 5 probably...). 73, Martin, OK1RR Dne 18.4.2014 16:46, Jim Miller napsal(a): > I had just noticed those lines but didn't think they were necessarily the > transmit freq as I was in CW and the line wasn't at 600 as I would have > expected. Check the K3 manual there are some good button programs included like up
2 up 5 and cleanup which will take you out of split.
