Paul,
Anytime I have seen strange problems with serial cables they've been caused by
homebrew cables. Please see if you have an OEM straight through cable (not a null
modem cable) and see if that helps. Also make sure the jack screws are well
secured to the K3 to maintain a good solid connection.
