I am waiting on my K3 kit to arrive (Friday?). While I wait, I am doing a little setup for the K3on my station. My mic is a studio mic so it's always "hot". I also feed audio from my PC to theback of the K3 (line in). The computer controls a relay which will key the radio when neededvia the PTT jack on the back of the K3. Now the problem: If the computer keys the rig and feeds audio to it, will the front mic connection still be on? If soit could cause mixing of room audio and the data being sent to the K3 - not a good thing.... Just curious. Hi Ken. The source for the audio is determined by the main menu item MIC
SEL. If you want to use the rear panel you select RP. FP for the front panel. 73 Greg AB7R On Mar 13, 2012 2:58 PM, "Ken KG0WX" <[hidden email]> wrote: > > I am waiting on my K3 kit to arrive (Friday?). Ken,
It all depends. If your connection to line in is for data modes, then no problem - set line in as the MIC SEL entry for DATA modes. OTOH, if you are using line in for voice modes, you will be forced to set MIC + LIN on in the menu, and in that case, both the microphone and Line In will be live. If your setup does not require MIC + LIN, then the 3 audio inputs - FP mic, RP mic and line in are mutually exclusive. So bottom line, the answer to your question depends on your operating needs and you setup. If you do need to use both a microphone and Line in for voice modes, I suggest that you connect a microphone to the soundcard and let the software application sort things out for you. 73, Don W3FPR On 3/13/2012 5:58 PM, Ken KG0WX wrote: > I am waiting on my K3 kit to arrive (Friday?).
