I'll buy one! The sharp edge on the K2's knob and the lack of
a finger-dimple ... I did buy one of the after-market dimples ... is about the ony thing I've found to grump about ... oh yes, there is the "buried" clock display .. (:-)) Need to look and see if the K3 has a visible clock display. 73! It's quite a bit larger, which means it would overlap the LCD's bottom edge, and would likely interfere with the knobs at the left. The K3's VFO B knob is smaller than the K2's present VFO A knob. Now, all that said, we should be able to design a "little brother"-sized knob for the K2 that looks like the K3 knob. Unfortunately I won't be able to get to that for awhile. 73, Wayne On Apr 28, 2007, at 9:09 AM, Ken Kopp wrote: > I'll ask for all of us who have K2's and want to at least sniff the > wine ... > What is/are the cost/s and part #'s for the two K3 tunng knobs? > > Since the K3's tuning knobs are differnet sizes, which is the > "logical" > replacement for the K2's knob? > > I was gonna call Yaesu Monday, BTW. > > 73! Yes, it does. The VFO B display is alphanumeric, and if you tap the DISP button to the left of the display you can show many things, one of which is a clock. Oh, and the clock is an alarm clock that can sound a gentle beep as well as turn the radio on in time for your net or sked :-) 73, Lyle KK7P PS - and no, the K3 does not (yet?) decode WWV and use it to set your clock. We had to leave something for you to do!!! _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Lyle,
Here is a good question for your DSP FAQ: Will there be opportunity for a sufficiently motivated programmer to do such things (i.e. Any access to the AF or IF DSP layer?) You can leave it up on VFO B continuously, if you like. You can also see the date, power supply voltage, power supply current, and other info. There's also an alarm function. If you set the alarm time, the radio will beep at you to remind you of a sked or start of a contest. If the radio is turned off, it will turn itself on at the appointed time. Of course this feature is optional, and the default is OFF. But it'll be helpful for those of us who always forget when they're supposed to be somewhere! 73, Wayne N6KR --- http://www.elecraft.com _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Looking at the price sheet with calculator in hand ...
How many filter options can be installed? Does the 10W version use the KAT-3 tuner, or is there a low-power tuner option, as in the 10W K2? Have the first 200 been sold, or if you get more than 200 pre-paying buyers can you accomodate more? Will you accept a 50%-paid order for yet-to-be-determined version? I assume I can pre-pay 50% of a K3/10 and add later, before delivery? I hope you have extra staff manning the phones on Monday! 73! Five in the main receiver, 5 in the subreceiver. There will be more filter options announced as time passes and we test them. > Does the 10W version use the KAT-3 tuner, or is there a low-power tuner > option, as in the 10W K2? KAT3. There is one internal autotuner model for the K3. > Have the first 200 been sold, or if you get more than > 200 pre-paying buyers can you accomodate more? Bring it on! I'll let someone else answer the rest of your questions. We'll review the situation on Monday and provide additional guidance ASAP. I don't think the first batch of 200 will go this weekend. 73, Wayne --- http://www.elecraft.com _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
