K3 test results?

Brett gazdzinski-2
I have been trying to figure out where the
K3 will fall in the Sherwood receiver test data chart.

http://www.sherweng.com/table.html

The info on the Elecraft web page for the K3 is
different, and I am not sure how one compares...

K3 sensitivity is listed as -136, while the Sherwood page shows microvolt's.
Would that correspond to the Sherwood noise floor?
What about the preamp?

None of the other stuff makes much sense, like ultimate filter rejection,
good seems to be 130 db, I guess nothing on the elecraft web page
lists that.

Can anyone match terms, or would Sherwood have to test a K3
their way?

I expect to get my K3 any day now....but wonder about the
actual test results which might not come out for months
I would guess...

It would be real nice if the K3 was at the top of Sherwood's list!

I talked with Rob at a recent ham radio swap meet here in Colorado. He
is currently testing the latest SDR offering from FlexRadio Systems, and
he will be getting a K3 to test as soon as Elecraft says it's ready for
prime time. He will test it the same way he has tested every other
transceiver on his list.

Back around 1990 Rob and I tested my then newly acquired Ten-Tec Omni V
in his lab. It was an interesting experience to say the least. Rob's
equipment and test methods are first class. I hope the K3 scores well,
but rest assured that Rob will give it a fair and accurate comparison.
And if there are any problems found, I'm confident that Elecraft will
address them quickly.

Patiently counting the days to the second production run ...,

Just convert it:

PdBm=20*log(V/Vo)

where Ro=50 ohm,  Pm = 0.001 W, thus Vo=sqrt(0.001*50)= 0.224 V

so for Pdbm = -136:

V=Vo*10^(-136/20)
...

V = 35nV or 0.035uV!
