I would like to use my K3 as an IF radio for
some VHF+ transverters. I have transverters for 8 bands, and it would be great if the set up included automatic bandswitching of the transverters, amps, PTT lines, etc. Is there anything out there that can handle this? I spend over 300 hours per month at work, so I don't have time to learn how to program a PIC, etc. Thanks & 73, Arliss W7XU ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
MicroHAM maybe to start with look at their web site. Off the top of my head
that is all I can think of. 73 Fred/N0AZZ -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of [hidden email] Sent: Saturday, August 11, 2012 1:59 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: [Elecraft] K3-transverter interface I would like to use my K3 as an IF radio for some VHF+ transverters. A Google search shows one commercial decoder: http://www.kuhne-electronic.de/en/products/transverter/tr-6-sw.html It looks like it might be usable with generic transverters. There is also one home brew design that does not use PICs, etc.: http://g4fre.com/k3vhf.pdf In addition, band decoders from Elecraft (KRC-2 - using Aux bus) and microHAM (Station Master - using CAT data) will decode the transverter bands but will require additional relay switching to select IF (In/Out) and route PTT to the respective transverters. 73, ... A good start to home brewing this type of interface can be found at
http://www.unifiedmicro.com/decoder.html Provides opto isolated binary decodes. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the KRC2 .. red-headed stepchild of
the Elecraft line ;) I use a KRC2 with a K2 to switch 6 microwave bands in the Jitney .. 903 through 10G. The radio displays the correct frequency with the GHz lopped off. I reprogrammed the KRC2 (no programming required, just run a commandline utility) such that it turned on 2 source and 2 sink pins per band, with another pair of source and sink which turns on for any microwave band. The outputs of the KRC2 can do a few hundred milliamps, but the total package power is probably limited to under an amp (e.g. use drivers for stuff that uses more than a few 10s of mA). I drive two 1P6T relays plus some logic and a bunch of DEMI relay boards. It's not out-of-the-box, but it's been very reliable .. you'll likely need to be able to do simple "glue" circuitry, diode or gates, drivers, etc to make a complete solution de w1rt/john On Sat, Aug 11, 2012 at 2:59 AM, <[hidden email]> wrote: > I would like to use my K3 as an IF radio for > some VHF+ transverters.
