I just upgraded the utility and f/w for my K3. It went so smoothly, I said to myself "I have got to complement the software people at Elecraft." And I do complement them on a fine job.
Then, it hit me. No matter what, the S-meter goes no lower than S-9. It indicates above it on a strong signal, but no lower. When I turn off the AGC, the volume goes way down. I checked the config menu and all's well.
(The smart ones have already got it figured out.) The last time I used the radio, I turned the RF gain to 12 o'clock.
Anyway, hat's off to those involved.
