Hi there--
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 with K3 Utility v1.12.3.28 with no problems at all! I don't know the difference between Ubuntu and Lbuntu, but perhaps David Fleming does (he coded the K3 Utility for Linux). 73 de Dick, ka1oz Elecraft K3/100K #859 GAP Titan-DX Vertical G5RV Doublet On 06/04/2012 03:10 AM, G4LNA wrote: > I did have a search for this, but I found no other replies, so I'm wondering > if anyone else is having the same problem. > > I recently installed LBuntu 12.04 on my netbook which I use for updating the > K3, previously it had 10.04 LTS and the K3 utility worked fine, but now with > Lbuntu it doesn't seemed to work. Unplug and then replug the K3 usb interface, and then run dmesg in terminal.
Please tell us what it says regarding the device assigned to ftdi? Adrian . vk4tux I did have a search for this, but I found no other replies, so I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same problem. I recently installed LBuntu 12.04 on my netbook which I use for updating the K3, previously it had 10.04 LTS and the K3 utility worked fine, but now with Lbuntu it doesn't seemed to work. The utility opens but it wouldn't pick up the USB port connection. I spent a couple of hours last night trying all different things, it seems like Lbuntu no longer seems to recognise ttyUSB1, I even tried installing PuTTY to see if I could change the settings using that, but no. The only way I could get around the problem was to install Ubuntu 9.10 on a separate small partition of its own and presto, without touching anything it worked, just a bit of a nuisance having two operating systems when one should do. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

When you enter "groups" at the shell prompt, what is returned? It's
likely that you need to add your username to the dialout group. You will need to log out (at a minimum) and log back in after making the change. 73, de Nate, N0NB >> -- "The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds. Ha ha! Glad you have it sorted now. I learned about permissions long ago when I first started playing with Slackware in the mid '90s. What fun that was coming from a DOS background! 73, de Nate, N0NB >> -- "The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds. The pessimist fears this is true." I had posted this previous before Nates post;
"Paul, Sound like a permissions problem, sudo chmod 777 the device and try again. Or, join a group with permissions, eg: dialout run (example , use your ttyUSBx id) [root@fedora16desk ~]# ls -l /dev/ttyUSB0 crw-rw---- 1 root dialout 188, 0 Jun 4 19:49 /dev/ttyUSB0 [root@fedora16desk ~]# Above will show the group owner i.e dialout. Adrian ... vk4tux" I received that post which was sent to elecraft@mailman.qth.net, however I dont see here it it in the nabble list, as I was trying to work out why you did not see it. oh well. |
