K3 with K2/100 rf amp??

I plan to buy a K3 but have a K2/100.

Can I use the k2/100 amplifier [it's in a separate box] with the 10 watt K3
and thus save the cost of the amp for the K3?
They both use Auxbus over DB9 connectors, so maybe . . .?
