K3 with SteppIR antenna

WA8EBM
Finally got around to slaving my SteppIR control box to the K3 for automatic frequency change.  No problem at all.  I simply used the "Y" cable from SteppIR, of which there is a diagram in the files section of the SteppIR Yahoo Group.
Kenwoods and Elecraft need to have a Radio Control program running to interface the hookup.  Simon has provided that service with K3 support on Ham Radio Deluxe.

If your logging or other rig control program will enable the
Kenwood or Elecraft "auto information" mode when it exits
(AI1;) the transceiver will send a IF data packet whenever
the transceiver frequency changes.  This is all the SteppIR
controller needs to follow the radio without the logging or
control program.

You can probably use a terminal program to enable AI if necessary.
