K3FF Budd Dipole

Jeff Herr
I attended a very informative presentation today by Budd Drummond, the
budd-dipole inventor.

I thought it was buddy-pole, I was wrong.

Anyway it was good.  Glad I ordered the product to go with the kx3.

No you weren't, I just sold my Deluxe Buddipole.  The name was
embroidered on the canvas bag it fit into, and all the documentation
said "Buddipole."  It's a great field antenna.  I sold mine after
several years of good use because of weight ... I've gotten attracted to
Summits on the Air [SOTA], I'm a little mobility challenged from
injuries in my 20's [The "Bulletproof and Immortal Period" in my life],
and I really needed to reduce the weight of my pack.

It's a great antenna, lots of possible configurations, really fun to
experiment with.  I was sad as I shipped it off to Jon.

If you have one, go register at the Yahoo Buddipole Group.  You will
enjoy the antenna[s], there's way more than one antenna with a buddipole.

Fred - I think Jeff was referring to how the name Buddipole was conceived, as opposed to how it's pronounced.  Bud-dipole makes a lot of sense, and I too had never thought of that.

If that is what you meant Jeff, thanks for the enlightenment. My Buddipole has given me years of good service. It is currently configured as a quarter-wave vertical on the MURS band for talking to my non-licensed friend down the street, so I guess it's not currently in ham service. Still works a treat though!

Like I said, Budd himself explained that.

Direct from the horses mouth!
