K3s at WRTC 2010

* below indicates K3s in use by USA WRTC teams.

30. K5ZD W2SC *
31. K1ZM K1LZ ?
32. N2NT K3LR ?
33. W4PA K6LA *
34. N4TZ N5AW ?

36. N5DX K5GO *
37. N6MJ KL9A *
38. K7RL K7ZS ?

K1ZM and N5AW both have K3s but I'm not sure what they'll be using. N2NT has also used one at the W2GD CQ 160 CW Multiop but K3LR may want to bring his IC-7800s.

Looks like a nice representation for the K3. I'm sure many overseas teams will be using them as well.

P.S. Intelligence test: would you rather carry a 10 pound K3 or a 55 pound IC-7800? Hint: $150 excess baggage charges apply to bags >50 pounds. ;-)

Hello Bill,

No, I won't bring the heavy IC7800 in this case. Its design is not intended for any portable use.

K3s at WRTC 2010

Hi Bill,

Perhaps, I did not express myself clearly enough (sorry, English is my second language).

I mean if I were to choose, I would not choose IC7800 under your intelligence test. I do not mean to buy the spot or join the event.

We have very few active HF stations in Hong Kong. Among these active stations, few of them are CW operators.

In case, you hear any VR2 stations in future, please give them a shout or answer their calls. I trust they will be delighted by your response.

I enjoy the Contest but NOT for scores. During the context, I can qso with my stations from different parts of the world within a short time - very 'time efficiency'. Furthermore, my radios can be well tested under such kind of dog fight situation - very interesting and challenging.

Ham radio is such a wonderful hobby that everybody can pick his own preferred segment. Somebody likes contest, somebody likes causal chatting, somebody likes study the radio design etc etc.

Spring time in Hong Kong is very humid and with showers. I am waiting for a better weather to bring my K2 outside for a field day.
