KAF2-Assembly questions

k6dgw
I'm building the KAF2 Audio Filter.  Two questions for whoever knows:

1.  I mounted the two trimmer pots on the top side of the board even
though their outline is on the bottom.  Hope that's right, it didn't
make sense to have an adjustable component on the bottom.

2.  I'm about to mount the socket for U2 on top however its outline is
also on the bottom.

First instruction says, "If an assembly step does not specify top or
bottom, the component should be installed on the top side."  Can I take
the manual at its word and put the U2 socket on the top?

There's a good picture on the Elecraft site which should answer your
concerns: http://www.elecraft.com/kaf2/kaf2_top.jpg

Thanks Andrew.  As has happened with every kit I've built, I got the
sides of the board mixed up, the picture made that clear.  It seems that
after I get components on each side and they look sort of similarly
populated, and have been building for a couple of hours, this happens.
I was able to get the two trimpots out and installed on the proper side.
I am now going to take a break until tomorrow evening :-)
Fortunately, this isn't likely to be a problem when my K3 gets here
although some other technical difficulty in my mind will probably arise.

Be sure you put the boards in the K3 sunny side up, Fred :-)
