Hi guys
I'm KAT 500 fresh owner and I was trying to touch Autotune threshold changing it from 1:1,80 to 1:1,60 for example. It happens that any value I digit as soon as I press Apply and Save checking again it comes back to default 1,80. Trying a per band set instead of All Band nothing changes. Am I doing some mistakes or is this value fixed ? Thanks a lot for support, best 73 Giorgio |

It appears there's a bug in the KAT500 Utility. Setting the thresholds with the 'ST' command (on the Command Tester tab) seems to work, but the GUI seems to be broken. 73, ~iain / N6ML ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Yes, but there's something funny....if you go to download KAT500 Serial Command Reference the document refers to 01.16 FW dated 16 November 2012, probably there's a new FW release incoming and perhaps fixes this bug.

I assume there is a bug fix coming soon for this?

Hi,
I see that in the reference manual, too, but I don't think 1.16 is available anywhere. I have the 1.14 version and that is what I see on the FTP site. I also cannot use the utility to change the autotune threshold. My KAT500 came loaded with an earlier version - the 1.14 I downloaded and installed myself. AB2TC - Knut

01.16 is in field test. The problem with setting the thresholds
appears to be a bug in the utility, not the firmware, but FWIW, I am running 01.16 and I can reproduce the problem. The developer is aware, and will be looking into it soon. 73, ~iain / N6ML On Mon, Dec 3, 2012 at 1:14 PM, ab2tc <[hidden email]> wrote: > Hi, > > I see that in the reference manual, too, but I don't think 1.16 is available > anywhere. Hi,
You lucky dog. What's new in 1l.16 or can you not divulge that? BTW my 2nd KAT500 is due to be delivered this Thursday and I have everything ready for installing it remotely where my antenna "farm" feedlines come down. The utility will be the only interface to it but it will be accessible wirelessly from anywhere on our property. Can't wait for it to arrive so the fun can begin. AB2TC - Knut

1.14 is the current production version. 1.16 was used internally to try to
discover more about an issue that was resolved another way. There will be a 1.18 in the next week or so. The AutoTune threshold issue seems to be in the KAT500 Utility. There is an equivalent ST command that you can enter with the command tester. I'll work on this as soon as I can. I'm in the midst of a move from house to house and I'm juggling a few balls at the moment. I'll get to it, but probably later in the week. 73 de Dick, K6KR -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of ab2tc Sent: Monday, December 03, 2012 1:15 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] KAT 500 how to modify Autotune threshold ? Thank you very much Dick, take your time we can easily workaround by sending ST command.

Are there any news about utility bug fixing ?
Thanks and 73 Giorgio |
Hello all;
I am ordering a P3 today and would like to consider ordering a second KXUSB as a backup because I have nightmares that my cable might fail and I will be left without a hookup at a critical moment. Is the KXUSBa that came with my KX3 interchangeable as a backup? I know, I could try it, but if it is not interchangeable and I damage something I will be up the proverbial creek without a cable until I can get one. So, if anyone has tried it and it works, please let me know--as well a word from the gurus at Elecraft. If it is not compatible I will put a second cable on my P3 order to have a standby. Super !
I just installed KAT Utility new version and it works perfectly and now I can set tune threshold as I like (inside the planned range of course). Many thanks Dick ! 73 - Giorgio |
We have also placed this version on the KAT500 software page on our web
site. 73 de Dick, K6KR -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of ik1bxn Sent: Tuesday, December 11, 2012 10:19 AM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] KAT 500 how to modify Autotune threshold ? Scott,
I did not see a response to your question on the reflector. The answer is NO. The P3 takes a regular DE-9 connector (as found on most USB to serial adapters) while the KX3, XG3 and KAT500 take a 3.5mm stereo plug carrying only TXD and RXD and signal ground 73, Don W3FPR On 12/11/2012 1:14 PM, Scott Monks wrote: > Hello all; > > I am ordering a P3 today and would like to consider ordering a second KXUSB as a backup because I have nightmares that my cable might fail and I will be left without a hookup at a critical moment. > > Is the KXUSBa that came with my KX3 interchangeable as a backup? Further; the adapter cable for use with the K3/P3 is the KUSB, not KXUSB.
It's not completely clear what Scott was planning to interchange. If it's really a KXUSB (for use with something other than the P3), I believe that the 'a' on "KXUSBa" just means that it's a separate/"extra" item (not bundled with a device that uses it). 73, ~iain / N6ML On Fri, Dec 14, 2012 at 6:03 AM, Don Wilhelm <[hidden email]> wrote: > Scott, > > I did not see a response to your question on the reflector. > The answer is NO. > The P3 takes a regular DE-9 connector (as found on most USB to serial > adapters) while the KX3, XG3 and KAT500 take a 3.5mm stereo plug carrying > only TXD and RXD and signal ground > > 73, > Don W3FPR > > > On 12/11/2012 1:14 PM, Scott Monks wrote: >> >> Hello all; >> >> I am ordering a P3 today and would like to consider ordering a second >> KXUSB as a backup because I have nightmares that my cable might fail and I >> will be left without a hookup at a critical moment. >> >> Is the KXUSBa that came with my KX3 interchangeable as a backup? Thanks Don, and the others that answered--this was one of my "dumb" questions!! I Wrote this from my phone while on a trip without access to the KX3 manual. When I got home and looked--well, of course they are not the same!
As well, my message was confusing. I had ordered a P3 the day before going on the trip and while traveling I realized that I didn't have a backup KUSB cable for my K3 in case the cable failed. So, I got in a "panic" but figured I could solve that cheaply by having a second cable shipped with the P3. I figured that I could even save buying a 'backup' if the USB cable for my new KX3 (which I am still learning to use) work work for that. Thus, my rushed question about the compatibility. Thanks for all your patience, and again, to those who answered even though my question wasn't too clear! 73, Scott AA0AA; XE1/AA0AA >________________________________ > From: Don Wilhelm <[hidden email]> >To: Scott Monks <[hidden email]> >Cc: "[hidden email]" <[hidden email]> >Sent: Friday, December 14, 2012 8:03 AM >Subject: Re: [Elecraft] are KXUSB and KXUSBa interchangeable? > >Scott, > >I did not see a response to your question on the reflector. >The answer is NO. >The P3 takes a regular DE-9 connector (as found on most USB to serial >adapters) while the KX3, XG3 and KAT500 take a 3.5mm stereo plug >carrying only TXD and RXD and signal ground > >73, >Don W3FPR > >On 12/11/2012 1:14 PM, Scott Monks wrote: >> Hello all; >> >> I am ordering a P3 today and would like to consider ordering a second KXUSB as a backup because I have nightmares that my cable might fail and I will be left without a hookup at a critical moment. >> >> Is the KXUSBa that came with my KX3 interchangeable as a backup?
