I have been carefully reading the instructions on the configuration and use
of the KAT3 and I am a little puzzled by what I have found. I was surprised to find that the KAT3 does not track the VFO on receive. I wonder if there is a reason for this? Has there been any thought on perhaps an upgrade of the KAT3 in the future? I have mono band antennas but the band edges are sometimes a little higher than say the band centre and CW portions. Tracking on receive is something I have become used to with previous radios. Still learning how this radio works, all reports so far have been exceptionally good. i just had a QSO with a station who asked me if I would like to swap it for his SteppIR beam and an FT1000...been there, done that, the K3 stays. Hi Gary,
I just used my KX1 on a mini trip. Used a endfedz dipole for 80/40/20. Worked great with the kx1. Used a small coax from the rig and ran the dipole up into a low tree using my shoe as a weight to get it up there HI HI. (got the shoe back ). the dipole is about 80ft long. and I had a very low swr with the rig. You can check it out on web. http://www.parelectronics.com/pdf/EF10-20-40.pdf Don...w2xb
