Howdy K3' people:
so my vv50 seems to have stopped working correctly (says 25w but only 4) So I decided to tell the K3 that xv1 was not on, and BandMap that 50 was back in. I am listening to 50.1 but the antenna goes to Ant-2 on the KAT500. Thing is that the "ANT" button on KAT500 will not cycle thru 1,2,3. And the ANT button on K3 tells me 'no atu', which might be what it does. I haven't used HF for a few weeks now. The K3 has a cable which does go to the KAT500. I do power the KAT500 before powering the K3. I have the cable from KAT500 to PC, as provided 'cept now the utility does not find the KAT500 on the only three COM-Ports listed in device manager (including hidden). what do I try next? thanks -- 73 KD7YZ Bob ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I'd look at the KAT500 Utility Configuration Menu, Edit Configuration, and
make sure that the desired antennas are "enabled" for 6 meters. Maybe ANT2 is the only "enabled" antenna on 6 meters. If it were, it would exhibit the behavior you describe. The K3's ANT button selects KAT3 antenna connectors. It doesn't affect KAT500 antenna selection. If the KAT500 is latched somehow (on all bands) and you want to force a firmware load, you can force it into its boot block firmware loader by removing the DC power connector, then press and hold the MODE button, plug in the DC power, and after about 10 seconds a LED should start blinking. At that point you should be able to load new firmware. This is described in KAT500 Utility Help. I'd consider removing the KXUSB adapter from your PC, wait a few seconds, and insert it again. Then start the KAT500 Utility and see if it reconnects. You can view USB port inserts and removes with the Windows Device Manager. When you remove it, a COM port should go away, and when you insert it, a COM port should appear. You might have to refresh the control panel to see this. But it helps locate the right port #. 73 de Dick, K6KR -----Original Message----- From: [hidden email] [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of KD7YZ Bob Sent: Thursday, June 20, 2013 14:47 PM To: K3 List Subject: [Elecraft] KAT500: K# doesn't see it. Anyway, running fine now; loaded latest beta firmware 141 I believe. How much can the KAT500 stand in bypass? I am testing my 2 x 3cx800a7's . Howver, I am keeping it to about 350 watts for the time being. -- Best regards, Bob KD7YZ Win7-64bit + K3 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

You should be fine in bypass to the legal limit. We have tested to 1800 to a good dummy load.
