How exactly does the Memorize button work in the Operate tab of the KAT500
utility. Is it an on/off global or do I have to hit it each time the tuner tunes a new frequency? 73, Kevin K4VD ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html Message delivered to [hidden email] |
The tuner will memorize the antenna selection and matching elements
every time it tunes. As to the Utility, what ever you change in the Utility will be be sent to the tuner when Memorize is selected. Not it is not necessary to hit Memorize every time the tuner resolves a match. 73 Bob, K4TAX On 1/28/2019 8:29 PM, Kevin der Kinderen wrote: > How exactly does the Memorize button work in the Operate tab of the KAT500 > utility. See KAT500 Utility help.
ATU settings found by tune are stored without pressing the button. If you create an atu setting yourself, using the radio buttons for inductors and capacitors, you can save it with that button. 73 de Dick, K6KR > On Jan 28, 2019, at 20:29, Kevin der Kinderen <[hidden email]> wrote: > > How exactly does the Memorize button work in the Operate tab of the KAT500 > utility. "The tuner will memorize the antenna selection and matching elements every time it tunes."
Yes, if the tuning solution is the result of an auto tune, then it is memorized. However if the tuning solution was set manually, then SM; is needed to memorize that solution for the current frequency. "SM (Save Memory, SET only) SET format: SM; or SM fffff; where fffff is a frequency in kHz. SM saves the current tuner settings (antenna, side, inductor, capacitor, and bypass VSWR) in the tuner memory for the indicated (or most recent transmit) frequency. If fffff is zero or missing, the last Transmit frequency is used. If transmitting, the measured frequency is used instead of fffff. SM; is used by the KAT500 Utility Operate Page Memorize button. SM with a frequency was introduced in firmware version 1.20." I make manual settings far more often than using auto tune so I use the SM; function a lot when configuring for a new or modified antenna. It's a good idea to save the KAT500 configuration (save to file) quite often because it's not too difficult to mess up a perfectly good tuner configuration. E.g. my dummy load and my 160 m OCF are on the same KAT500 antenna port but switched by a separate coax switch. An accidental auto tune with the dummy load selected will wipe out a good tuning solution for the antenna. It would be nice if the user had the option to inspect the auto tuning solution before it is used to override a saved solution. Maybe that option is available but I have not found it yet.
