Trying to tune a G5RV on 4.7xx mhz (MARS Freq.) best it will do is SWR 2.65,
which means I cannot use the amp.

K3 barefoot will tune SWR to 1.0

 

Why is there such a big difference between the tuners?

Check Caps in KAT500 there has been a series with one wrong cap
C19 was  wrong 680 pf    instead of 330 pF
