KIO2 12 volt regulator

Elecraft mailing list
HiMy KIO2 interface has stopped working.  Voltage checks indicated that the 5 volt regulator had 12 volts in and 12 volts out.  This is the VCC feed for the U1 processor.  So I can replace the regulator but would the processor have been damaged?  Should I just change both for general practice?
ThanksDon Zank AA9WP

Re: KIO2 12 volt regulator

Don Wilhelm
Don,

Why not replace the regulator and cross your fingers?  If it works, all
is well.  There is no firmware on the KIO2, but the MAX1406 U1 may have
been damaged.

Change them both. Even if the unit “worked” ok if you didn’t replace U1, you would be just waiting for a failure.
