I completed my KIO2 assembly, and it does passes the smoke test, and DC voltages at J1 measure okay, but does not communicate. It draws roughly 20 mA when powered up from the K2. As the serial port in my laptop is inoperative (has been for a long time), I've tested the KIO2 using a Belkin USB/Serial adaptor (p/n F5U409), and also with a new microHam CW keyer. Software is DXBase 2007. COM ports match in number and bit rate, stop bits, parity, etc.
I've examined the soldering carefully, and reheated some joints that looked less than shiny.
Here are some questions I have concerning assembly of the KI02.
1.) I did not pull the control board or modify it in any way. Since my K2 is a very recent serial number, I assumed I have the Rev. B control board. Is this assumption correct?
2.) I also did not install Ctxd. Is this correct ? (Installation of this capacitor is called for in one of the steps to be omitted for the Rev. B control board.)
3.) There are a couple of holes in my KIO2 board that are not filled. Specifically, the holes appear just below the outline for L4a and just above C5. . I'm looking at the KIO2 Board top with the 9-pin connector at the top, and C7 is in the upper right corner.
Does some component or jumper go there ? One of the unused pads goes to R1-- the other to U1, pin 1.
Thanks for any assistance.

Chuck NI0C
