Just an update to my problem where I can't get the KIO2 to respond.
I tried hooking things up on my laptop, which has a USB to serial adapter
(Belkin), and on my computer at work, which has a real serial port. The K2
menu Port was set to ON, and the serial ports were set up to 4800 baud, 8
data bits, no parity, 2 stop bits, and no handshaking.
To test things out, I used the K2Remote software and Hyperterminal as
described in the manual.
I failed to establish any connection on both computers. It wasn't a
USB/Serial converter problem, as I tried an IC-V rig control interface for
another radio which worked, along with my GPS.
A visual inspection of the soldering looks fine, I will try to confirm this
with my DVM over the weekend.
In addition, when I hit the Display button to check the radio's voltage and
current draw, the voltage reads just fine, but the current reading is 0.00.
It used to work fine. From the K2 manual, this sounds like I might have a
problem with U3 or Q11 on the control board (probably not a problem with
R115 on the RF board). Could this also be a problem with U6, the MCU, on
the Control board? I think I accidentally had an ESD using my DVM when
probing U6 the other day. However, all the other menu items and
functionality of the radio itself appears fine.
Thanks.
