KIO2 just stopped talking

Bob Whelan
Hi

My KIO2 has just stopped communicating.
Osc is OK, neg volts -10

Volt checks look OK except for

U1 Pin 5 which is 13 should be -8
U1 Pin 12 is 0 should be 5?

BUT U1 pin 5 goes to the TXD line and thence to the control boards U6 pin 25, which is shown in the Manual as being at 0 normally.

Any ideas appreciated

73 and thanks for reading this

Bob,

I too find TXD voltages in the KIO2 manual are a bit confusing.  They are
correct only if one looks at the active signal, but that will never be read
on a voltmeter - a 'scope is needed to show it. (the same set of problems
are present in the KPA100 manual too).
The normal voltage for pin 12 (K2 TXD) is 0 volts and goes to 5 volts when a
data bit is transmitted.
On the RS-232 side (pin 5), about 13 volts is to be expected when the input
pin (12) is at 0 volts, and it should go to -8 volts or so at the times pin
12 is at 5 volts.

Do you have the menu PORT parameter set to ON?
