My question is
Would it be easy to take out the transformer of an assembled amplifier? It is too heavy to hand carry on a flight so I would like to ship the transformer on its own.

Hello Ben,
 
Taking out the transformer is not difficult.  Taking out the top cover, then front panel, then left panel and unplug the taps of the transformer.  Of course, you have to loosen the mounting bolt and nuts of the transformer.
