KPA100 in a speparate enclosure - build-in KAT2 still ok?

dl0tuh
I'm evaluating purchasing KPA100 + KAT100-2 + EC2  -- it should be built in a separate enclosure. (by the way, if you have a non-built KPA100 for sale, please let me know)

Having this PA+ATU module, may I continue using my built-in KAT2 or do I have to uninstall it? My idea was to connect PA to KAT2's "ANT1" port and use "ANT2" for yet another antenna.

and without disconnecting KPA100/KAT100 ? Will I be able to tune an antenna on KAT2's "ANT2"? (I'm afraid that the tune command will be passed to KAT100 as soon as one is connected)

You will not have to remove the KAT2. Once you disconnect the KPA100/KAT100 from the K2 The rig will operate as the normal QRP setup.

When either  the  KPA100 or the KAT100  (or both) are detected,  the
KAT2  will  be switched  to  ANT1 by  the  firmware,  and  the  L/C
section  of the  KAT2  will  be bypassed.

I am not certain why you are concerned about tuning the KAT2 when the
KPA100/KAT100 are connected.  When you disconnect the KPA100/KAT100 from
the QRP K2, the KAT2 will still remember the last used tuning for both
ANT1 and ANT2.

Don,
thanks for explaination! My only "concern" is the remote operation, making connecting and disconnecting impossible. I thought I could get more antenna ports at no extra cost, but now I know the limitation.
