My #52 KPA-1500 power supply is placed front panel down on a small book on the floor rug to protect the protruding LED lights. It is placed about 3.5' away from my left ear with the top of the PS facing away from me. The result is that I can barely hear the PS fans and often forget that the KPA-1500 is running. The amp itself is sitting on top of my Alpha 9500 and is silent. The fans never turn on with my use of the amp. The KPA-1500 PS fans are definitely quieter than my Alpha 9500. I did replace the 9500's external fan to a much quieter one after I bought it 4 years ago.

Subject: [Elecraft] KPA1500 PS Fan
Is there any way to throttle back the power supply fans? I think the power supply is louder than my Alpha or Acom. Or did I get a power supply fan rack from the original fan parts? The DC power line is so short that I can’t get around the fan noise by putting the amp in a closet :-)
