KPA1500 remote connection not working.

Burl Borcherding-2
I have updated the firmware to 2.0 and tried to connect using static IP address.  I have 5 static IPv4 addresses that I use for remote connection on my K3 and K3/O mini.  My remote K3/0 connects flawlessly.

However, I have always had a problem connecting to the KPA1500 remotely.  I can sometimes connect local when I am home, but can not remotely connect to the amp.  Remote connection shows it is connected, but I can not see any data sets or make any changes to the amp during remote.  Hence, not truly connected.

The AMP is connected to the internet with a static IP address and “Wakeup ON LAN Enabled.  Also I have port 1500 forwarded in my router.

 I am using KPA 1500 Remote software V. 1.0.22.0

I have contacted Elecraft support several times to get this resolved and unfortunately, I do not get any response from Elecraft support.  I am hoping someone here has a possible solution.

Burl,

I have not been able to make it work either.

At the remote transmitter site, I can connect to the KPA1500 via USB or the local LAN via TCP/IP. But in order to connect to the amp remotely, I have to use Windows Remote Desktop connection to the PC at the remote site. That works, but I would like to be able to control the amp without the PC. All the other devices with forwarded ports work - remote rig, Flex, power controller, webcams, etc.

I will keep trying to make the 1500 work remotely, and share the secret if I find it.

Re: KPA1500 remote connection not working.

John Simmons
Chiming in here... did you try UDP & TCP? I have run into devices that
claim 'only TCP' but required both protocols forwarded to work. Another
idea: use Wireshark on a locally connected PC LAN card interface to
sniff out the protocols and ports that are actually being used by the
KPA. That will tell you for sure. Wireshark is free and there are lots
of resources on the web to help you with it.
