KPA500 Fault Question

Robert Jackson-2
My KPA500 was purchased new in July 2017.  Use regular 120V outlet.
I run the red transformer tap to keep my transmit HV above 60 at full 500
output.
The yellow tap did not provide sufficient voltage on transmit.  Thus the
red.
I have a whole-house surge protector just outside my main breaker box.

Here is my issue in summary.  The "60v supply over limit" fault does not
"throw"
any hard or otherwise noticeable fault on my amp during operation.  That
fault is
supposed to flip the amp from operate to standby I'm told.  Separately, that
fault, if amp is in standby, is supposed to power off the amp, I'm told. My
amp
shows this fault in the Utility Fault Table, but I'm not aware of it,
unless I look
at the Table and see it.  It operates as normal, pumping out full power,
but never
shows externally as a fault on the display, nor exhibits the standby flip
or power off, that the written manual and the support guys tell me it
should.
So I know what it *should* do, but after operating it like this, I know
what it
*does/does not* do.

Thus, I seek any input or advice.  Should I keep operating per normal, since
this fault doesn't actually change my daily operation as noted.  Given
that, will I
end up harming the supply after passage of time?  Should I assume
I have a faulty Fault Table in the utility on my Mac?  Should I, since it's
under
one year old, and was factory assembled, return it for inspection under a
warranty?
I just need thoughts on this from the group.  Anybody out there ever
experienced this?

Re: KPA500 Fault Question

Don Wilhelm
Robert,

It is possible that the fault is brief enough to register in the fault
table, but not turn off the amp.

The 65 to 85 volt range is to be determined with the amplifier turned
on, but not keyed and certainly not running at 500 watts.

Do as the manual indicates and measure you AC Mains voltage and select
the tap which corresponds to that voltage (chart on page 6 of the
Owner's manual.
If you cannot get 500 watts out after doing that, the likely reason is
that your line voltage is dropping with load.  Have a qualified
electrician wire a dedicated outlet in the shack with #12 or larger wire.
