Tried several times to get a fix for inconsistent power up issues.
KPA500 power on set to OPERATE K3 set to 27w Turning on the kpa500 results in the K3 display showing ON (not operate) and the K3 stays at 100w output. I have asked elecraft for advice but no advice so far after several weeks. I have checked the obvious things such as the auxbus cables and pins etc. Swapped them around but no change. Anyone else seen this? -- *Gary - VK1ZZ Skype: Gary.VK1ZZ http://www.qsl.net/vk1zz Motorhome Portable The Shack* *Elecraft K3 P3 Panadapter KPA500FT KAT500FT** * ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Yes, I have seen it, and reported it. IIRC, it seemed that there is an "ON" message followed immediately by an "OPER" message, and sometimes the latter gets dropped. When it fails, there's only one "beep" from the K3. I never found a solution. I've since changed my (remote) setup so that the KPA500 has its 220V supply cut off by a relay that hangs off the K3's 12v ACC, so it gets a hard power-on when the K3 is powered on, and I no longer have the problem. At least I think that's the only change I made... 73, ~iain / N6ML ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Hi Ian,
Yep that's it. Numerous emails to elecraft have not got me a fix for this either. Pretty annoying problem and a lack of effort by the factory to find what is causing the issue. I know to 'fix' the problem each time, when the kpa500 is powered on, switch between oper/stby causes the issue to be resolved which is fine except that it is not the way the K-Line was meant to operate. regards On 10 August 2013 01:17, iain macdonnell - N6ML <[hidden email]> wrote: > On Fri, Aug 9, 2013 at 7:47 AM, Gary Gregory <[hidden email]> wrote: > > Tried several times to get a fix for inconsistent power up issues. > > > > KPA500 power on set to OPERATE > > K3 set to 27w > > > > Turning on the kpa500 results in the K3 display showing ON (not operate) > > and the K3 stays at 100w output. > > I have asked elecraft for advice but no advice so far after several > weeks. > > > > I have checked the obvious things such as the auxbus cables and pins etc. > > Swapped them around but no change. > > > > Anyone else seen this? > > Yes, I have seen it, and reported it. Folks;
We are aware of this situation. The problem is caused by the K3 being on a different band when the KPA500 is powered up than it was on when the KPA500 was last used. We are currently testing a fix for this problem. Stay tuned… Jack Brindle, W6FB Elecraft Engineering On Aug 9, 2013, at 12:07 PM, Gary Gregory <[hidden email]> wrote: > Hi Ian, > > Yep that's it.
