KPA500 Power problems

Bob Whelan
I have a frequent incidence of Fault 6 Excess power tripping. This seems to occur only on 80m. I have the K3 and KPA500 linked with the AUX cable. I get the trip even if the K3 output is zero!
If I unplug the AUX cable then the KPA500 works perfectly on all bands.
Any ideas as to why this happens?

I've had that, but the K3 power goes to a hundred watts which causes it. I'm thinking that rf gets into the cable and tells the K3 to go back to 100 watts as if the KPA500 were switched to standby. Cycling the KPA between standby and on resets it.

Charles
Thanks for the comment . Playing around this evening I found that if I reset the. 'Per  band' power setting on the K3 on 80m. the problem went away . So maybe the optimum drive level got corrupted some how.
See what happens next time I use it
