I think I've identified a bug in the KPA500 software. Maybe someone else
can confirm it.
I've several times found myself transmitting at low power (30w) when the
KPA500 was in bypass, instead of the intended 100w. I have the K3 set so
that transmit power differs by band so that I get the automatic low
power setting when the KPA500 is on and the higher power setting when
the KPA500 is off.
What I think happens is that when I use the K3 to change bands, the
KPA500 goes into standby (a non-default setting on the KPA500, but that
is how I set it) but standby does not get reported back to the K3 so the
K3 continues to transmit at the lower power setting as if it were
driving the amp. This is confirmed by the asterisk next to the power
setting which should not be there with the amp in standby.
The problem does not occur if I use the KPA500 buttons to change bands.
